Guide to foreigners’ marriage registration in Pingshan

In China, the legal marriage age is 22 for men and 20 for women. Age is counted as reaching the required age on one’s birthday. Both parties must be unmarried (including never married, divorced, or widowed) and must not be direct blood relatives or collateral relatives within three generations.

I. Documents required

1. Three identical recent 2-inch bareheaded half-length ID photos of both parties.

2. Valid identification and written documents.

(1) If you are from a country/region that is a party to the Apostille Convention, prepare:

A valid passport or other valid international travel document, or a PRC Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card (if using this card, you must also provide the passport number), and a certificate of no marriage record issued by a notary or competent authority in your home country, with an apostille certificate, plus a Chinese translation.

OR: A valid passport or other valid international travel document, or a PRC Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card (if using this card, you must also provide the passport number), and a certificate of single status issued by your home country’s embassy/consulate in China, with a Chinese translation.

(2) If you are from a country/region that is not a party to the Apostille Convention, prepare:

A valid passport or other valid international travel document, or a PRC Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card (if using this card, you must also provide the passport number); and a certificate of single status issued by a notary or competent authority in your home country, authenticated by the Chinese embassy/consulate in your country or your country’s embassy/consulate in China, plus a Chinese translation.

OR: A valid passport or other valid international travel document, or a PRC Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card (if using this card, you must also provide the passport number); and a certificate of single status issued by your home country’s embassy/consulate in China, with a Chinese translation.

(3) If your country has no diplomatic relations with China, documents must be authenticated by the embassy/consulate in your country of a third country that has diplomatic relations with both China and your country, and authenticated by the Chinese embassy/consulate in that third country. Alternatively, the documents may be authenticated by that third country’s embassy or consulate in China.

II. Appointment

Make an online appointment through https://www.gdhy.gov.cn/  at least one day in advance. Appointments for the next 15 days are available, and time slots are released daily at 8:30 a.m.

Please arrive at the appointed time. If you cannot attend, cancel at least one day in advance. If you no-show twice within 30 days without advance cancellation, you will be barred from making new appointments for 15 days.

III. On-site registration

After successfully making an appointment, both parties must appear in person at the scheduled time and present the required documents.
