The Pingshan River Natural History Corridor (坪山河自然博物长廊) is a 38-km walking trail that winds through green mountains, clear waters and old villages. Walking the trail offers scenic views and a peaceful escape.

Eastern section: Pingshan River Bridge — Pingshan River Wetland — Laohedao — Shixi River

Originating in the Biling area on Maluan Mountain, the Pingshan River is the region’s ecological and cultural lifeline. Its revitalized banks feature clean water, thriving wetlands and abundant wildlife — egrets, diverse fish and seasonal blooms such as golden trumpet trees and frangipani.

This section highlights “sponge city” design with constructed wetlands, wooden boardwalks and ecological bridges. Historic Hakka villages like Honghuatan sit alongside the site of the future Shenzhen Natural History Museum, blending past and future.

Western section: Fengtian Ancestral Residence — Dawan Ancestral Residence — Dongjiang Column Memorial Hall — Guoxing Temple — Nanzhong School — Shuiyuan Ancestral Residence

The western section preserves Pingshan’s Hakka heritage through ancestral homes such as Dawan Ancestral Residence. Traditional institutions like Nanzhong School and the modern Shenzhen Technology University line the riverbanks. Notable landmarks include the Martyrs’ Pavilion in Pingshan Park and the Dongjiang Column Memorial Hall, which honor the region’s revolutionary legacy.
