Pingshan will join hands with Shenzhen Special Zone Construction and Development Group Co., Ltd. to build smart poles along the highways, major roads and more than 150 main intersections across the district in the next few years, according to a signing ceremony held on March 8.

At the ceremony, a company wholly invested by Shenzhen Special Zone Construction and Development Group Co., Ltd. was also unveiled. The company will be responsible for the construction, running and maintenance of the smart poles.

A smart pole is a multi-function lamp pole that integrates lighting, traffic monitoring and management, environment surveillance, wireless communication and other public services.

Through integration with roadside units, CCTV cameras and laser radars, the smart poles will support Pingshan’s development of internet of vehicles (IoV) and intelligent network and facilitate its construction of a smart city sensors’ network to improve the urban management and public services of the district.

A company dedicated to the digitalization and network construction of traffic facilities was also unveiled at the ceremony. The company will offer smart traffic solutions to support Pingshan in building the district into a pilot in modern urban management and a central area of the intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) industries.

The ceremony also initiated the construction of an information infrastructure in intelligent networks. Pingshan will build a more diversified road environment for ICV testing, speed up to explore the ICV testing, application, operation, monitoring and services, and accelerate the construction of the ICV industries ecosystem.
