Renowned violinist Ning Feng will collaborate with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for a concert at Nanshan Culture and Sports Center later this month. Russian conductor Vasily Petrenko will wield the baton.
Since 2006, Petrenko has been the principal conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. After releasing his album “Bravura Violin Warhorse Pieces in the Hands of Ning Feng” in 2005, the prodigy made recordings with the Japanese label Triton and the Belgian label Cypres. He also released an album of Paganini’s works and an album with the renowned Dutch record company Channel Classics, showing his considerable skills in violin interpretation.
Ning has performed at prestigious venues in Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, the United States and Japan, among others, and played at the opening ceremony of the National Center for the Performing Arts of China in 2007. Born in Chengdu in 1981, Ning started learning the violin at the age of 4. In 1992, he went to the high school affiliated with the Sichuan Conservatory of Music. He enrolled in the Royal Academy of Music in Britain with a full scholarship in 1998.
Since 1997, Ning has won many prizes, such as the grand prize and the first prize for violin at the 5th International Art Competition for High School Students in Takasaki, Japan, the first prize at the London Oratory Festival & International Violin Competition in 2001, and the first prize at the 51st Paganini International Violin Competition in 2006.
Founded in 1840, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra is Britain’s longest-surviving professional orchestra. It is based in the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, an art deco concert hall built in the late 1930s.
