Visions and Beyond: The Second Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennial will showcase animation works created by artists and directors from around the world.
The works will be displayed through documentary films, video art, new media, installations, live slide shows, etc. Some of the works have already won fame or prizes at international film festivals.
Since the official launch in April, the biennial has worked with fine art academies, art institutes, foundations, curators and scholars at home and abroad. Various public activities, including academic forums in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Taipei, a series of lectures, and two workshops, have been held to much local acclaim and criticism from experts, scholars, curators and media outlets.
After the preliminary opening Oct. 20 in Guangzhou, 70 works from 64 directors were selected by three members of the preliminary jury. The final awards will be announced Dec. 6 in OCT-LOFT, and the finalists will be displayed at the exhibition. Some of the artists will be present to discuss their works.
