Ukrainian musician Sergey Lunev and Romanian musician Andrea Di Carlo will perform at B10 Live tomorrow night.
Lunev will be performing his “Drawing the Endless Shore” project, an intelligent dance music and trip hop solo project also known as “The Best Pessimist.” This project was formed in 2010 and in the first year he released digital full-length album “Don’t Despair.” In 2013, he released his second album “Protagonist.”
Intelligent dance music is a genre of electronic music that emerged in the early 1990s. Stylistically, it tends to rely upon individualistic experimentation rather than adhering to musical characteristics associated with specific genres of dance music. The range of post-techno styles were described variously as “art techno,” “ambient techno,” “intelligent techno” and “electronica.”
Trip hop is a musical genre that originated in the early 1990s in Britain. It has been described as “a fusion of hip-hop and electronica until neither genre is recognizable” and may incorporate a variety of styles, including funk, dub reggae, soul, psychedelia, R&B, and house. Trip hop can be highly experimental.
Di Carlo is engaging in his post-rock solo project “French Teen Idol.” “Enlightened False Consciousness” is his full-length album released in 2007. His third album “El Siete Es La Luz” in 2009 is an eight-track instrumental musical experience made of layers of strings and basic piano melodies, glitchy drum beats, post-rock-like crescendos and vocal samples.
