String quartet concert at Poly

Four string players from the Philharmonia Orchestra will present a night of classical music at the Shenzhen Poly Theater.
Violinist Zsolt-Tihamer Visontay is laureate of several international prizes, including the International Louis Spohr Violin Competition and the International Henry Marteau Violin Competition. In 2005, he became the leader of the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) and a year later he became the concert master of the Philharmonic Orchestra.
Violinist Rebecca Chan has been the winner of the string section and Nelly Apt Scholarship in the ABC Young Performers Awards, the ANAM concerto competition and the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition and was a prizewinner at the International Citta di Brescia Violin Competition. She is a member of the Australia Piano Quartet, the Hamer Quartet and the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra.
Cellist Karen Stephenson studied at Trinity College, Cambridge before completing her studies at the Royal Academy of Music. She is regularly in demand as a guest principal with orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony and BBC Concert Orchestras, London Sinfonietta and the English Sinfonia.
Viola player Yukiko Ogura has been a member of the Kobe City Chamber Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She studied at Kyoto City University of the Arts and Roosevelt University. She won the gold medal at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in 2001.
