What is OnHeidi Lau, a New York-based visual artist who grew up in Macao, will give a lecture on her recent work, followed by a conversation with New York-based writer Kang Kang. The event will be in English and Chinese. No sign-up is necessary.
Lau’s practice excavates myth and minor history to investigate the materiality and non-linearity of the past. Taking inspiration from ritual objects, architecture, funereal monuments, post-apocalyptic narratives and zoomorphic forms, her painstakingly crafted and glazed ceramic sculptures are the ruins of lost futures and the ghost of impossible homecomings.
