Shenzhen Art Museum has invited Wu Baisuo, a Chinese New Year woodblock print artist from Shanxi Province, to demonstrate print-making at two events this weekend. Entry is free. Attendees may have a chance to get free Chinese New Year woodblock prints as gifts.

Chinese New Year woodblock prints on loan from Shanxi Folk Arts Museum are also on display at Shenzhen Art Museum in Luohu District.

The oldest Chinese New Year woodblock prints depict a door god fashioned during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Later, more subjects, such as fairies, the Kitchen God, women and babies were included. Customarily, as the Chinese New Year arrives, families replace New Year pictures to say goodbye to the past and welcome the future.

Exhibition: Until Feb. 20 (closed Mondays)

Venue: Inside Donghu Park, Aiguo Road, Luohu District (罗湖区爱国路东湖公园内深圳美术馆)
