Lyu Siqing to present an evening of masterpieces

Chinese violinist Lyu Siqing will perform a powerful and lyrical program of German and Austrian music in a recital at Pingshan Theater. Accompanied by esteemed pianist Wang Chao, the concert will feature Mozart’s “Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 10 in G Major, K. 378,” Beethoven's “Violin Sonata No. 8 in G Major, Op. 30 No. 3,” and Brahms’ “Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 3 in D Minor, Op. 108.” 

Lyu is a virtuoso of international acclaim, best known for being one of the earliest Asian winners of the gold medal at the prestigious Paganini International Violin Competition. His powerful and poetic sound has graced the world’s most esteemed stages, including Vienna’s Musikverein, London's Wigmore Hall, New York’s Lincoln Center, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing.

He plays the 1734 Guarneri del Gesù “ex-Ricci” violin, whose rich, warm tone is featured on his widely admired recordings of “The Butterfly Lovers” and Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons.”

Wang is a Berlin-trained pianist and a prize-winner at several international competitions. He holds a Ph.D. from the Universität der Künste Berlin and currently serves on the piano faculty at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Praised for his rich tonal palette, Wang has extensive experience performing with leading orchestras and at major international festivals.
