A night of beloved musical numbers by John Owen-Jones

Musical fans are in for a treat as John Owen-Jones is set to grace Pingshan Theater, delivering a memorable night featuring the most popular numbers from globally renowned shows, such as “Les Misérables,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

Owen-Jones is known for his critically acclaimed and award-winning West End and Broadway performances as Jean Valjean in “Les Misérables” and the Phantom in “The Phantom of the Opera." Xu Lidong, a Shanghai-born actress trained at Codarts Rotterdam, who led in the Chinese version of “Jekyll and Hyde” in 2017, will join as a featured guest performer.

Audience members can look forward to iconic numbers like “Bring Him Home” and “On My Own” from “Les Misérables,” “All I Ask of You” and “Music of the Night” from “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Til I Hear You Sing” from “Love Never Dies,” and “Evermore” from “Beauty and the Beast,” among others.

Owen-Jones, recognized as the youngest actor in West End history to portray Valjean, is the best-loved Valjean after Colm Wilkinson. He has performed in the role of the Phantom nearly 2,000 times. Chinese fans affectionately refer to him as “Bear Daddy,” as they admire his exceptional singing talent and passionate, insightful portrayal of characters.

Voted as the best Valjean in today’s musical theater and finest performer in “Les Misérables” by fans in a popular online survey, the British artist appeared in special finales for the 25th anniversaries of “Les Misérables” and “The Phantom of the Opera” respectively at the O2 in 2010 and the Royal Albert Hall in 2011, both events broadcast to millions worldwide.

With seven studio albums to his credit, Owen-Jones has worked extensively in theater and appeared on television, radio and in concerts around the world.
