Pingshan Children’s Park, Shenzhen’s first district-level children’s park, opened to the public yesterday.

The park is located to the southeast of the intersection of Tongyu Road and Huangzhukeng Road in Shahu Community, Biling Subdistrict and covers an area of 57,000 square meters.

In the design of the park, a concept known as “an academy of big trees” is featured, which encourages interacting with, learning from, playing in and growing up in nature. Under the concept, four zones are set up, including a nature class zone, a jungle exploration zone, an archaeology zone and a mountain and river zone. Different venues were also built in the park, including a skateboarding ground, a theater, a wetland and a library.

With a respect for nature, the park retains the existing lychee forest in the area and had a playground built in the forest by rearranging the ground layer plants and adding facilities such as balance beams.

In addition, the park has preserved the original landscape and plants of the area and utilized the height differences in the original landscape to build facilities such as ladders and zip lines.

Thus far, it has built 85 parks, including a country park, four wetland parks, eight comprehensive parks and 72 community parks.
