Residents in some areas of Pingshan are now able to have their purchases delivered by drones thanks to the district’s efforts to pilot the construction of a network for low-altitude air delivery, according to a report by Pingshan Media Center.
In recent years, Pingshan has been constructing infrastructures for developing future industries and generating more future application scenarios, along with policies to support future industries.

Last year, China’s delivery giant Meituan established its first air delivery route for public users in Shenzhen’s Pingshan, and its first air delivery order was also completed here.
The Meituan air delivery service costs the same as those provided by couriers. Buyers need to place an order at the Meituan app to use the service.
After picking up the food ordered from a restaurant, couriers can drop it off at a nearby drone airport, from which a drone will deliver the food to another airport at a housing compound. Customers can then pick up their purchases at the housing compound airport or have workers of the residential compound deliver the purchases for them.
So far, the Meituan air delivery service in Pingshan has served more than 2,100 users. In February, the airport was expanded to accommodate seven drones simultaneously taking off and landing.
