The first Chinese and English language themed salon was held recently at the Pingshan International Talent Community, gathering local residents who have a keen interest in English as well as expats from Poland, Algeria, Iran, and other countries.

The salon consisted of sessions such as games and role playing to help the expats become familiar with the vocabulary in Chinese daily conversations, and learn to order food via mobile payment apps.

“I learned Chinese and made Chinese friends in the salon. I like the salon very much,” said Mark, an English teacher from Algeria. Mark can introduce himself in Chinese, shop online, and use his mobile payment apps after participating at the salon.

“The salon plays an important role in the construction of the Pingshan International Talent Community,” said the salon organizer, “we will conduct similar salons every week. Moreover, we will have monthly themed competitions and featured activities in the future to enhance international communication.”

Since the Pingshan International Talent Community was put into service in 2019, Pingshan has held various events for the local expat community.

In the future, Pingshan will establish an international service system to bridge resources and provide diversified services by further improving its infrastructure, attracting quality resources, building a foreign service center that can provide visa services, and working with social organizations to provide international courses in various fields such as Chinese-foreign cooperation, international understanding, and bilingual and multilingual employment, entrepreneurship and enterprise management.
