Local NewsPingshan District has added 15 companies to Shenzhen’s latest list of municipal-level green factories, bringing the district’s total to 22 municipal-level and 18 national-level green factories. The achievement reflects the district’s ongoing efforts to improve the environmental performance of its industrial sector.
Green factories are evaluated based on five dimensions: land use efficiency, the use of non-toxic raw materials, clean production, waste recycling and low-carbon energy. These criteria serve as key indicators of a manufacturer’s progress in energy conservation, clean production and the development of a circular economy.
The 15 newly recognized factories operate in Pingshan’s key industries, including biopharmaceuticals, next-generation information technology, precision manufacturing and new materials. The list includes both industry leaders and specialized companies.
Through upgraded production processes, energy-efficient equipment, solid waste recycling and refined energy management, these companies have integrated green practices into their research and development, production and management. As a result, they have reduced energy and material consumption as well as emissions, while improving both economic and environmental performance.
As a major advanced manufacturing hub in eastern Shenzhen, Pingshan has made green development a priority alongside the growth of its four pillar industries. The district provides policy briefings and application support for companies seeking green-factory certification, while encouraging investment in green and intelligent upgrades.
Pingshan will continue to guide more manufacturers toward greater energy efficiency, lower carbon emissions and higher-quality development, helping lay a solid foundation for China’s “dual-carbon” goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.
