More than 30 international students from Russia, Serbia, Indonesia, Brazil, Peru, and other countries joined a Gen Z media tour on June 5, embarking on an immersive journey to explore Pingshan.

The group visited the Pingshan Culture Center, rode the SkyShuttle to experience the district’s smart transportation system, toured BYD’s global headquarters to learn about advances in new-energy technologies, and strolled through Changshou Dramaville to gain insight into Pingshan’s integrated approach to urban development and industrial growth.

The students, mainly from Shenzhen MSU-BIT University (SMBU), The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen), Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), and Shenzhen Technology University, were deeply impressed throughout the day. As they recorded their experiences on camera, they shared reactions such as: “So cool,” “I’ve never seen anything like it before,” “Impressive,” and “Innovative.”

Shuvatov Aleksandr, a Russian student from SMBU, said the tour reshaped his understanding of smart manufacturing in China, giving him a firsthand sense of the technological strength behind high-end batteries, electric vehicles, and the SkyShuttle.

Mariia Baryshnikova, also from SMBU, was especially fascinated by BYD’s megawatt flash-charging technology, which can provide stable ultra-fast charging even at temperatures as low as -30°C. She expressed hope that such products would be more widely adopted in Russia, bringing high-tech convenience to more people.

Karel Gideon from CUHK-Shenzhen said he was impressed by BYD’s Lingyuan vehicle-mounted drone system and intelligent cockpit, describing China’s hardware and software manufacturing as “efficient, innovative, and very cool.”

Edeliene Fortuna Nathan, also from CUHK-Shenzhen, noted that she learned many new technologies during the tour, adding that she looks forward to revisiting Pingshan with friends after the Shenzhen Natural History Museum opens.

Spichkin Mikhail of SMBU praised Pingshan’s integration of industry and urban development, saying that cultural venues and high-end amenities located near the high-tech zone make it a “highly livable” place to work and live.

Merino Cruz Judith Lizeth, a Brazilian student from Shenzhen Technology University, said she hopes to see more international exchange activities in the future.
