Statistics show that during the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday, Pingshan District recorded a 55.2% year-on-year increase in tourist arrivals (excluding Shenzhen residents). Day-trippers surged by 71.7%, overnight visitors grew by 26.5%, and tourism revenue jumped by 54.7% compared with last year. Hotel stays in Pingshan rose by 56.0% year-on-year, with domestic guests up 66.9% and inbound tourists up 24.2%. Revenue for accommodation providers soared 161.1% year-on-year.

As an ecological landmark for Pingshan and Shenzhen, Maluan Mountain Country Park saw visitor numbers rise by 10.12% over the holiday compared with last year. Specially designed CNY photo spots along the trails created a scenic route that combined sightseeing with traditional blessing rituals. Families enjoyed fresh air amid lush greenery, made New Year wishes and took part in refreshing hikes.

On the second day of the Chinese New Year, descendants of the Zeng family from home and abroad gathered at the centuries-old Dawan Ancestral Residence to honor their ancestors. Visitors experienced Hakka intangible cultural heritage, joined interactive qilin dances and received traditional Hakka gifts.

During the holiday, many migrants workers in Pingshan invited their parents to visit Shenzhen and join the New Year celebrations; the district provided free accommodation for these family visitors, creating a warm atmosphere of togetherness.

In addition, Pingshan launched public-interest film screenings, showing five popular new films at discounted ticket prices, allowing local residents to enjoy cinema during the holiday.

The rising popularity of cultural tourism injected strong momentum into Pingshan’s consumer market. The “Pingshan Station” urban promotion space at Gangxia North in Futian District sold premium Pingshan-made products, ranging from technological innovations and intangible cultural heritage items to Hakka specialties. These distinctive, high-quality goods became popular choices for visitors purchasing gifts.

Major commercial areas across Pingshan offered discounts and gift promotions, giving shoppers opportunities to sample local products while dining and shopping. Data show that during the holiday, eight major commercial complexes in Pingshan recorded a combined year-on-year increase of 38.38% in foot traffic and an 18.69% rise in business revenue.
