Global cooperation advances at WASIC 2025 in Pingshan

The 2025 World Automobile Standards and Innovation Conference (WASIC 2025) was held in Pingshan from Oct. 27 to 29, marking the third consecutive year the district has hosted the event since its 2023 inauguration. 

This year, the conference drew more than 300 professionals from around the world, to discuss hot topics such as new energy vehicles, intelligent connected vehicles, artificial intelligence, safety, development efficiency, and sustainable development.

The event has become an important platform for strengthening international standards coordination, breaking down regional barriers, and promoting technology mutual recognition, market interconnectivity, and industrial integration across the global automotive sector.

WASIC 2025 featured major international organizations such as UNECE, IEC, SAE International, FIA and ARSO, together with participants from 26 countries. 

During the conference, China's National Technical Committee of Auto Standardization and ARSO’s automobile and engineering technology committee jointly launched the automotive standardization cooperation mechanism between China and Africa to share technical standards, exchange experience, and coordinate on international standards, facilitating alignment between Chinese practices and African systems to boost Africa’s automotive industry.

The Digital Platform of Global Automotive Standards and Regulations was introduced to apply digital and intelligent technologies to improve international applicability of standards and support high-quality industry development.

In addition, China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co. Ltd. and Institut Marocain de Normalisation signed an MOU on cooperation in vehicle standardization, auto parts verification, and standards technology exchange between China and Morocco.

The “U.N. SDGs and the Automotive Standardization Initiative” report was released, signaling a shift in China-Africa collaboration from traditional infrastructure toward green technology and standards innovation, with continued efforts to commercialize research outcomes in support of the U.N. 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

At the conference, the standard achievements for “Vehicle-Road-Energy-Cloud-Network-Map” integration were released, while the Shenzhen Vehicle-Road-Cloud Industry Incubation and Operation Center and Shenzhen Research Institute of Chang’an University were launched. Both institutions are located at the Pingshan New Energy Vehicle Industrial Park.
