Latest statistics show that Pingshan District’s GDP in 2025 grew by 10.5% year-on-year.

Industrial output above the designated scale (enterprises with annual operating revenue of 20 million yuan or more) increased by 15.9%, with strategic emerging industries accounting for 88% of this industrial output. Industrial investment was a major contributor, representing 54% of total fixed asset investment. R&D intensity reached 11.8%, with enterprises providing 98.39% of total R&D spending. Total import and export volume rose 13.7%, while total retail sales of consumer goods climbed 10.2%.

Pingshan is building a “6+3” industrial cluster focused on sectors such as new energy and intelligent connected vehicles, biopharmaceuticals, integrated circuits (IC), and artificial intelligence (AI). The district’s industrial cluster for manufacturing equipment for auto parts was designated a national-level specialized SME cluster, and the world’s largest automotive millimeter-wave radar production base has begun operations in Pingshan.

The district hosts more than 1,300 biopharmaceutical companies and accounts for over half of Shenzhen’s chip manufacturing capacity. In 2025, more than 30 firms in the semiconductor and IC industry chain were established in Pingshan, driving a 23% rise in annual industrial output.

The district also launched the AI Smart Industrial Park and AI Future Camp, and rolled out over 100 AI application scenarios. Pingshan has accelerated AI-enabled manufacturing: enterprises in the district that are rated Level 3 or above in the national intelligent manufacturing capability maturity assessment account for 22% of Shenzhen’s total. Nearly 100 new AI companies have established a presence in the district.

To stimulate consumption, Pingshan has combined public welfare initiatives with promotion campaigns to unlock domestic demand. The district introduced more than 40 distinctive tourism routes and strengthened services across dining, accommodation, transport, tourism, retail, and entertainment.

New consumption formats — including trendy entertainment, night-time economy offerings, festival programming, and sports events — were promoted. In 2025, six high-end hotels opened, and new business formats such as intangible cultural heritage experiences, immersive performances, digital film and television productions, and short online dramas were introduced at various spots.
