A grand ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was held in Beijing on the morning of Sept. 3.

In Pingshan District, a festive atmosphere prevailed as residents from all walks of life organized community screenings to watch the live broadcast of the ceremony. Many viewers described the military parade as impressive, noting China’s progress in the economy, technology and national defense, as reflected by the array of advanced weaponry and modern aircraft on display. They also expressed appreciation for today’s peace and vowed to contribute to the country’s continued prosperity.
