On Sept. 3, a grand gathering commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was held in Beijing. Ahead of the event, 23 BYD T18 electric sanitation trucks cleaned the parade route, operating with high efficiency, low noise and zero emissions.

This marked the third time BYD has provided sanitation support for a national ceremony: the company also served the Sept. 3 V-Day parade in 2015 and the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 2019. These three deployments over the past decade underscore BYD’s brand strength, technology and product quality.

According to BYD, headquartered in Pingshan District, the sanitation trucks first used in 2015 remain in service today, attesting to their durability and reliability. More than 3,000 BYD sanitation trucks are currently operating in Beijing.

The latest, third-generation trucks used for this year’s ceremony are built on an all-electric chassis designed specifically for sanitation duties. They are equipped with BYD’s Blade Battery, a high-efficiency motor and an intelligent control system, and incorporate regenerative coasting and braking, which recovers energy and can reduce energy use by as much as 15% in stop-and-go traffic. The vehicles can perform multiple tasks, including sweeping, washing and waste transfer.

BYD’s sanitation trucks are now widely deployed in major Chinese cities such as Beijing, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Xi’an. Its electric heavy-duty trucks have also entered overseas markets including the U.S., Mexico, India and Singapore, earning international recognition for their adaptability and reflecting the growing global influence of Chinese manufacturing.
