To prepare for the 15th National Games, set to open in less than 100 days, the Rhythmic Gymnastics Test Competition was held from Aug. 2 to 3 at the Pingshan Sports Center Gymnasium in Pingshan District.

The games will take place from Nov. 9 to 21 across 19 cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with the Pingshan Sports Center Gymnasium hosting the rhythmic gymnastics events.

The test competition served as a full-scale rehearsal to comprehensively evaluate facilities, competition organization, and support services, ensuring all preparations meet the highest standards.

The competition strictly followed National Games standards and featured five individual events and three group events. It brought together 29 athletes from 13 teams, including five young athletes developed in Pingshan who represented the Shenzhen Youth Team.

The Pingshan Sports Center Gymnasium recently underwent extensive upgrades to sports facilities, accessibility, information technology, audiovisual, and smart event management systems. These improvements aim to provide athletes with an optimal competition environment and enhance the experience for spectators.

Ahead of the test event, the organizing committee thoroughly inspected and optimized all facilities according to official standards, including equipment, lighting, sound systems, and timing and scoring devices. Competition management, referees, medical services, traffic control, security, and volunteer teams were also fully prepared. The evaluation emphasized the smoothness of competition procedures, reliability of technical equipment, effectiveness of emergency protocols, and overall service quality.

Shenzhen Pingle Orthopedic Hospital and Pingshan District People’s Hospital have been designated as the official medical facilities for the event. Ten medical stations have been established across competition venues, hotels, and training centers. A team of 24 medical personnel, supported by two ambulances and an emergency training instructor team of 23 specialists, has been assigned. Thirteen AEDs and other emergency medical equipment have been supplied.

Vigilant monitoring of vector-borne diseases such as Chikungunya and dengue fever is underway, with 68 inspections conducted targeting mosquitoes, flies, rodents, cockroaches, and other vectors.

In food safety, a 20-member team is stationed at the competition venue, hotels, and designated food storage facilities. Hotel kitchens have undergone renovations to meet safety requirements. A comprehensive food safety management system includes thorough inspection of food procurement, sampling processes, and an intelligent management mechanism to ensure rigorous food safety throughout the event.

Major roads surrounding the sports center have been decorated with welcoming banners. A team of 65 volunteers — including students from Shenzhen Technology University and young staff from China Construction Fifth Bureau Installation Engineering Co., Ltd. — provided support across 26 roles such as guest guidance and accreditation services for the test competition.
