At the main venue of the 21st China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF), which is being held through May 26 at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center in Bao’an District, a distinctive green “box” is attracting considerable attention.

This is the Pingshan Pavilion, located in Hall 11 and designed as an “artistic box” that showcases boundless creativity and vibrancy of Pingshan District. The pavilion displays Pingshan’s achievements in culture, technology and sports, as well as its natural beauty. The district is developing into a hub for arts and culture, an urban outdoor sports destination, a futuristic place for technological exploration, a venue for thrilling sporting events, and a dynamic location for trendy experiences.

A highlight at the fair was the signing of the Memorandum of Friendly Exchange and Cooperation between Pingshan District and Italy’s Municipio VIII of Rome on May 22, establishing collaborative ties in economic, cultural, healthcare, and sports sectors.

Throughout the fair, a variety of cultural and tourism projects related to Maluan Mountain, high-quality hotels, the Shenzhen Natural History Museum, Dawan Ancestral Residence Cultural Block, Pingshan Sports Park, and more are being presented to attract further investment in Pingshan.

The Pingshan Pavilion features over 200 products from 20 companies, including Longma Studio, Vinci Cultura, Poly Theater, Comix Group, and Heli-Eastern. Posters of past and upcoming performances at the Pingshan Theater and Shenzhen Pingshan Changshou Dramaville create a vivid theatrical atmosphere within the pavilion.

A kylin dance performance enhanced with AI motion capture technology brings the traditional Pingshan kylin dance into the digital world, revitalizing this Hakka intangible cultural heritage. The pavilion also collaborates with leading appraisal organizations to support artists in developing cultural and creative products, digital collectibles, and cross-brand collaborations.

This year, the Pingshan Culture Center — an integrated complex housing Pingshan Theater, Pingshan Art Museum, Pingshan Library, Pingshan Exhibition Gallery, and Pingshan Book City, along with a cinema, cafes and restaurants — has been selected as an ICIF subvenue.

Featured events include the “Splendors of the Sun and Moon” exhibition at the Pingshan Exhibition Gallery, Leonid Tishkov’s “Write Me to the Moon” project displayed in the public square, and special discounts at various shops.
