During the May Day holiday, Pingshan District hosted over 170 activities and shopping promotions, sparking vibrant growth in tourism, culture, and consumer spending.
Statistics show that the number of tourists visiting Pingshan increased by 17.6% year-on-year during the holiday, with visitors from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan surging by an impressive 103.6%. Tourism revenue in the district also rose by 6.42% year-on-year.
A variety of cultural events took place at Shenzhen Pingshan Changshou Dramaville, including concerts, exhibitions, kylin dance performances, drama workshops, a movie screening, and a Hakka-themed board game.

On May 3, a kylin dance camp attracted cultural enthusiasts and youth eager to learn about traditional kylin beliefs and Hakka culture. A lively parade featuring kylin dancers offered tourists a vibrant experience of intangible cultural heritage.
Natural scenic spots such as Maluan Mountain, home to Shenzhen’s largest waterfalls, and the picturesque Pingshan River attracted many nature lovers. Parks in Pingshan welcomed 274,800 visitors during the holiday, representing a 37.63% year-on-year increase. Shopping malls and real estate outlets offered discounts, complemented by entertaining activities and trade-in programs that further boosted local spending. Hotel and inn check-ins in Pingshan from May 1 to May 4 also rose by 35% year-on-year.

Notably, the Pingshan SkyShuttle welcomed several student tour groups during the holiday, thanks to its unique transportation experience and intelligent technologies. Visitors gained insights into the SkyShuttle’s design, autonomous operation system, and maintenance. Many expressed that the SkyShuttle is not only a transportation tool but also a model of China’s smart city development — making it an ideal educational resource for schools to to arrange student visits.

Earlier, Pingshan District promoted its drama festivals, exhibitions, performances, and industrial tours in Hong Kong to attract tourists. During the holiday, a Hong Kong visitor surnamed Chan remarked that a day in Pingshan is uniquely rewarding, as she could watch dramas, explore high-tech companies, savor Hakka delicacies, and enjoy a diverse tour experience.
