Migrants’ Home, a service center located near Shenzhen Metro’s Shatian Station at the border between Shenzhen and Huizhou, has expanded its services.
Many people working in Kengzi Subdistrict in Pingshan District reside in Huizhou, and the Shatian Metro Station experiences approximately 20,000 visits daily, with numbers rising to 40,000 during holidays. To meet the needs of commuters, residents, and migrant workers in the area, Kengzi Subdistrict established Migrants’ Home in January.
Volunteers and community workers at Migrants’ Home provide a range of services, including transportation assistance, travel guidance, luggage storage, complimentary mobile phone charging, lost and found services, first-aid kits, drinking water, and other amenities for those commuting between the two cities.
For outdoor workers, such as cleaners and delivery personnel, the center serves as a refuge, offering free drinking water, a microwave oven to heat meals, shelter during inclement weather, and a space for rest.

The services have now expanded to cater to a broader range of needs, including free health check-ups and childcare. It also distributes daily necessities such as cooking oil, rice, tissues, and stationery to low-income families. During extreme weather conditions and festivals, the center provides warmth, safety, snacks, and beverages.
In response to the needs of local enterprises, the center has also launched a recruitment service, offering information about job opportunities for residents of Shenzhen and Huizhou. This year, more than 300 job vacancies from 71 enterprises have been posted at the center.
Since its launch in January, a total of 245 volunteers have dedicated 4,710 hours to Migrants’ Home, which has earned high satisfaction ratings from Shenzhen citizens.
