Politicians, academic professionals and business people from Shenzhen and Hong Kong gathered at a Shenzhen Venture Capital Day event in Hong Kong on Dec. 15, discussing the high-quality development in the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) fueled by financial capital, future prospects and collaboration.

As one of the co-organizers, the People’s Government of Pingshan District signed a memorandum of agreement with the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) to enhance collaboration in areas such as technological innovation, technological achievement commercialization, entrepreneurship, and talent development. The two parties will cooperate on the establishment of the CityU Science and Technology Achievement Commercialization Park in Pingshan, and on driving the university’s research teams to provide technological service, commercialization and consultation for Pingshan. They will jointly conduct innovation and entrepreneurship projects, including setting up incubation bases, organizing competitions and other activities.

Shenzhen Venture Capital Day is the first domestic event integrating venture capital and technology. Since its establishment in November 2022, this event has been held every month, entering key areas throughout the city, becoming an exemplary venture capital event in the GBA. Hong Kong has also become an indispensable part of the Venture Capital Day activities.

At a Shenzhen Venture Capital Day event held in Pingshan on March 8, a delegation from five Hong Kong universities — CityU, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University — presented a roadshow featuring 13 innovative and technological entrepreneurship projects of Hong Kong universities, attracting hundreds of domestic investment institutions, banks and securities firms.

On Nov. 9-10, a delegation from Pingshan visited Hong Kong to seek high-tech projects and enhance the exchange between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The delegation visited CityU, where they learned about the university’s latest research and the HK Tech 300 project. Both sides discussed industry-academia-research collaboration and talent development.
