Pingshan District claimed the 38th spot in the 2023 Top 100 Chinese Industrial Districts rankings, improving by 11 spots compared with last year's 49th. The district’s performance reflects its dedicated focus on industrial growth and manufacturing, particularly in the real economy sectors, continuously promoting industrial intelligence, green practices, and integration. The district has formed an advanced manufacturing cluster characterized by its focus on "innovative medicine, intelligent vehicles, and China-made chips."

The annual rankings were compiled by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, a State-owned think tank specializing in technology and economics.

The Pearl River Delta solidifies its status as China’s primary industrial hub, with 18 of its districts securing positions in the top 50 list. The concentration of industrial prowess is particularly evident in specific cities, with Guangzhou and Shenzhen each boasting six districts on the list, and Foshan standing out as the only city in the province with all five of its districts recognized in the top 100.

In this year’s rankings, Guangdong excels with 21 districts featured in the top 100 list, tying with Jiangsu for the highest number of entries nationwide. Notably, Guangdong outshines in the top 10, with six entries compared to Jiangsu’s four.
