World automobile standards conference held in Pingshan

The first World Automobile Standards and Innovation Conference, gathering over 20 international organizations in the field of standards, was held in Pingshan District on Nov. 26-28, releasing collaborative initiatives, research reports, roadmaps and more.

During the conference, China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co. Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement on international standards, digital development and international exchanges with the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation, the American National Standards Institute and the Standards Press of China.

A cooperative initiative on the innovation of national, industrial and group standards for automobiles, a research report on the mandatory automobile standard roadmap and China’s roadmap for automobile low-carbon development were released. In addition, research results of hands-free calling and voice interaction in vehicles, background noise and speech corpus, and the intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) standard system were also rolled out. The conference also discussed the protection of vulnerable road users, automobile network security and data security standards, low-carbon automobiles and safety of power batteries.

Under the guidance of Pingshan District, a series of standards for small ICVs was proposed to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers by the Shenzhen Future Intelligent Network Transportation System Industry Innovation Center, Meituan, Neolix and the China Quality Certification Center. Three standards respectively specify the technical requirements of small ICVs, methods and requirements for autonomous driving testing, and vehicle performance testing methods to support the demonstration and commercialization of small ICVs.

Shenzhen aspires to establish itself as a world-class auto city. In August, the city’s industry and information technology bureau released a three-year action plan to transform the city into a new-generation world-class automotive city. On Nov. 27, Shenzhen unveiled comprehensive measures to promote the high-quality development of new energy vehicles (NEVs) and ICVs. With NEVs together with ICVs as one of its three key industries, Pingshan has actively been participating in the local ICV standard formulation.
