BYD rolls off its 6 millionth NEV

Pingshan-based BYD, a leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEVs) and power batteries, announced Nov. 24 that it rolled off its 6 millionth NEV at its Zhengzhou factory in Henan Province, following its achievement of 5 million NEVs in just three months. The 6 millionth NEV, named BAO 5, is a hybrid SUV under BYD’s sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao.

BYD, with 11 research institutes, has applied for a total of more than 40,000 patents globally and been granted over 28,000 patents. It has introduced various innovations and technological advancements, such as the Blade Battery, DM-i Super Hybrid System, e-Platform 3.0, Cell to Body (CTB) Technology, e4 Platform, BYD DiSus Intelligent Body Control System, and the Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) Super Hybrid System.

With diverse brands including the Dynasty and Ocean series, Fang Cheng Bao, Denza and Yangwang, BYD sold a record number of more than300,000 NEVs in October.

It has also been expanding its global presence by adopting a dual approach of exporting and locally producing NEVs. Currently, BYD’s NEVs have entered 58 countries and regions, including Germany, Japan, France, Brazil, Australia and the UAE, with a total overseas sales surpassing 200,000 NEVs. It has consecutively been the sales champion in the NEV market in Thailand and Brazil.

BYD’s models including Han, Seal, Yuan Plus, Dolphin, and others have gained increasing recognition from international consumers. BYD, along with many other domestic brands, is driving the global automotive industry to accelerate into the new energy era.

In Pingshan, where BYD’s headquarters are located, BYD is also playing a leading role for the growth of the greater community. It has invested in multiple companies in Shenzhen and the surrounding Greater Bay Area cities, forming a complete industrial chain integrating the research and development, production, and sales of NEVs.
