A delegation comprising presidents, publishers, and editors-in-chief representing overseas Chinese-language media organizations from five continents visited Shenzhen on Nov. 5-8. The event was jointly organized by the Hong Kong Commercial Daily and the Global Commercial Newspapers Union.

On Nov. 8, they visited BYD, Greater Bay Area International Vaccine Innovation Center and AnLing Biomed (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. in Pingshan District, experiencing the cutting-edge technologies, witnessing the high-quality development of China's manufacturing and discussing the importance of cooperation in innovation between China and the world. The delegation could sense that Pingshan, with a thriving environment, gathers diverse and high-end innovative resources.

The group’s itinerary also included the Futian Mangrove National Nature Reserve, the Nanshan Energy Ecological Park and the coastal Lighthouse Library in Yantian District, highlighting Shenzhen’s endeavors to bridge urbanity with nature. The delegation also visited the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Service Industry Cooperation Zone and the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, which are innovative platforms that facilitate collaboration between Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

Linda Wu, president of New Broad, a Chinese-language media outlet based in Germany, expressed her delight about visiting Shenzhen for the first time. “I conducted research before my arrival and learned that Shenzhen is a green city with numerous young talents. I was impressed by the beautiful flowers and trees when I stepped out of the Shenzhen airport,” Wu said.

“No matter who comes to Shenzhen, they are easily drawn in by its unique creative power. I will definitely write reports to share my experiences in Shenzhen with our readers in Germany.” Wu also highlighted the role played by the Global Commercial Newspapers Union, providing resources and opportunities for them to explore China’s development and inform overseas readers.

Herbert Moon, publisher of Today Commercial News, a Chinese-language media outlet in Canada, was eager to witness firsthand the thriving environment that has drawn young talents and high-tech investments to Shenzhen. “I have heard from Canada that Shenzhen is appealing to young talents and high-tech companies for employment and investment. I am looking forward to visiting these representative companies on my own.”
