The 2023 China Intelligent Connected Vehicle (ICV) Yanzi Lake Summit with the Bay Area Intelligent Connection Test Field Launch Ceremony was held Aug. 26 at the Yanzi Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center in Pingshan.

Organized by the People’s Government of Pingshan District and the China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co. Ltd. (CATARC), the summit invited experts and representatives from governments, industry organizations, car and component enterprises, and research institutes. Discussions focused on hot topics such as ICV management, standards, testing technologies, data platforms and safety operations.

The summit was held right after Shenzhen had rolled out a three-year action plan to become a new-generation world-class auto city. The summit aimed to assist Pingshan in developing top-notch testing capabilities and drive the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area’s ICV industry.

The Bay Area Intelligent Connection Test Field

The Bay Area Intelligent Connection Test Field, as a key part of the Shenzhen Intelligent Connected Transportation Testing Demonstration Zone, is located in Shijing Subdistrict in Pingshan. With a total investment of 800 million yuan, the test field covers an area of 43 hectares.

The test field focuses on the cutting-edge ICV technologies and will provide testing venues and equipment services to support Shenzhen’s licensing tests, Pingshan’s autonomous driving management, and major industry events. For the new energy vehicles (NEVs) and ICVs, the test field is divided into six areas according to ICV testing requirements: high-speed testing area, advanced driver assistance systems, dedicated testing area, urban testing area, flexible testing area, slope testing area, and urban parking testing area. Right-hand drive vehicle testing equipment is also installed in the test field to promote cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong projects.
