Algerian president feels technological vibes in SZ

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune wrapped up a two-day trip to Shenzhen on July 21, an important part of his first state visit to China since taking office in 2019. Following his visit to Beijing, Shenzhen was the second and last stop of Tebboune’s state visit.

Shenzhen Party chief Meng Fanli met with Tebboune and his delegation July 20. Shenzhen will deepen cooperation with Algerian cities, enterprises and other institutions to achieve win-win results, and make greater contribution to the development of the Chinese-Algerian comprehensive strategic partnership, Meng said.

Tebboune said that Shenzhen is an important stop on his trip to China. After coming to Shenzhen, he deeply felt that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, Shenzhen is a miracle as manifested by its development. He added that Algeria will carry forward the traditional friendship between the two countries, learn from China’s experience, deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and welcome Chinese enterprises to invest in Algeria.

On July 21 morning, Tebboune and his delegation visited BYD’s global headquarters in Pingshan District and learned about the latest technological achievements of the globally leading NEV maker. Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD, introduced to Tebboune the blade battery independently developed by his company and other technological achievements.

In the afternoon, the Algerian president also visited Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen, where he met with Ren Zhengfei, founder and CEO of Huawei. The two sides visited the company’s exhibition hall that reflects the latest trends in the digital economy and industry digitization.
