Pingshan sees consumer spending thriving

Pingshan District has experienced a surge of commercial vitality over the past six months, and with the start of the summer vacation, numerous retail businesses have geared up for the season.

From January to May, the total retail sales of consumer goods in Pingshan reached 8.76 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 28.5%. The growth rate ranks first in the city, and the consumer goods market in the district continued to maintain a positive trend in June. From January to May, there were nearly 4,000 newly registered business entities in Pingshan, a year-on-year increase of 26.10%. Among them, there were 2,129 newly registered individual businesses, a year-on-year increase of 39.70%.

Statistics show that during the recent Dragon Boat Festival holiday, Longping Rainbow Department Store in Pingshan witnessed a year-on-year increase of 35.51% in sales revenue. The Pingshan Yitian Holiday World shopping mall saw more than 170,000 visits during the three-day holiday and a nearly 55.05% growth in sales revenue compared to the same period in 2019.

“Last month, we organized a series of marketing activities after the college entrance exams in early June and during the June 18 shopping spree and the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, resulting in surging customer numbers and sales,” said a Yitian Holiday World employee surnamed Zhang, adding that during the summer vacation, themed activities that combine food, entertainment and shopping will be launched.

The summer vacation has also brought about a boom in the electronics market. In various shopping malls and appliance stores in Pingshan, many parents bring their children along when they go to purchase electronic products. Businesses have also rolled out various promotions.

On June 16, Pingshan launched its second round of promotions to boost the sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs). Several independent legal entities operating as authorized car dealerships in the district are bustling with customers, and car sales have surged. “After the distribution of NEV purchase subsidies, we can sell more than 100 vehicles weekly, equivalent to the monthly sales volume prior to this promotion. The number of customers visiting our showroom has also noticeably increased,” said Zhou Bianjing who is in charge of Shenzhen Longping Haodi Automotive Sales and Service Co. Ltd.

The construction of Shenzhen’s third MixC shopping mall in Pingshan District has recently started, and it will provide more convenience for local residents in buying luxury goods and will improve their shopping experience. In addition to the MixC mall, Pingshan will also promote the construction of several other commercial complexes this year for the development of core commercial circles in the district.
