Pingshan has the first national-level bio-industry base in China, and has over 1,000 biomedical companies in the district, accounting for one-quarter of the city’s total. The leading companies include Sanofi Pasteur, Sinopharm Zhijun, Snibe and Edan, while a batch of innovative small and medium-sized enterprises represented by Pregene, HwaGen and Ascentawits have also emerged. With an annual increase of more than 100 new companies and an average annual growth rate of more than 20% in industrial output value, Pingshan has been progressing as Shenzhen’s primary biomedical industry cluster area.
