GBA vaccine conference held at Yanzi Lake

The 2023 Greater Bay Area (Shenzhen) Vaccine Conference was held at Yanzi Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center in Pingshan District on June 2-4.

More than 300 public health professionals gathered at the conference themed “A New Era for Connection and Acceleration.” They held more than 20 lectures and forums, in which they discussed the status of global immunization planning, the prospects of public health, innovations in disease control systems, the development of innovative immune technologies, and the high-quality development of the vaccine industry.

The Chinese Preventive Medicine Association and Sanofi signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation forthe development of vaccine immunization policies and creative services in the Greater Bay Area. In the future, both sides will continue to cooperate in hosting the conference, promoting domestic innovative vaccine R&D, accelerating the introduction of advanced technologies and innovative vaccine products, and exploring vaccine immunization service model upgrades, to support China’s immunization and disease prevention development.

The conference also proposed to strengthen cooperation among industries, academics and research institutes, promote investment and financing, and fuel the progress of the vaccine industryin the Greater Bay Area.

The conference is acclaimed as an annual industry event in the vaccine and public health sectors and has been held for three consecutive years in Pingshan, the hub of Shenzhen’s biomedicine industry. The district hosts many biomedicine enterprises and a large industry space, where the industry scale is rapidly growing; favorable policies, excellent platforms and industrial parks foster a favorable environment for enterprises doing R&D; and efficient and supportive government services help enterprises save costs. Data shows that in the past few years, an average of 100 new biomedicine enterprises emerge in Pingshan every year. In 2022, the number of biomedicine enterprises in the district exceeded 1,000.
