Citizens will need to make appointments in advance through the “i深圳” app and select specific time intervals for on-site tomb sweepings during this year’s Qingming Festival, according to the city’s civil affairs bureau.
The festival, also called Tomb Sweeping Day, falls on April 5 this year. It is a traditional day for Chinese people to visit the graves and tombs of their ancestors and loved ones.
Telephone and on-site reservations are also available to facilitate special groups such as the elderly. The peak period for tomb sweepings is expected to be from April 1 to 5. Citizens are advised to avoid the peak period and visit the cemeteries at staggered hours.
