Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU), a public higher education institution in Pingshan District, was approved as a university of applied sciences by the Ministry of Education on Nov. 30, 2018.
SZTU aims to establish itself as an open and innovative university with Chinese features and global outlook. To meet the urgent demand from the local and domestic advanced manufacturing industry, SZTU is obligated to cultivate innovative talents, including engineers and designers, with artisans’ spirit and international view.
By learning from experienced universities in applied sciences and technology, SZTU implements a modern apprenticeship system in teaching. It is based on enhancing the capacity of engineering, practice, and innovation. In terms of training for talents, SZTU is exploring a new mode of “university education + enterprise internship + engineering projects.”

SZTU recruits qualified full-time and part-time teachers with rich practical experience. Teachers are required to have at least six months’ practical experience in enterprises every five years. They are assessed not only in publishing academic papers, but also in their ability to solve pragmatic problems for enterprises, businesses, and industries.
SZTU has set up specialties and courses according to the needs of industrial and innovative chains. To meet the demands of pillar industries, strategic emerging industries, and future industries in Shenzhen, SZTU first established six colleges, namely: the Sino-German College of Intelligent Manufacturing, College of Big Data and Internet, College of New Materials and New Energies, College of Urban Transportation and Logistics, College of Health Science and Environmental Engineering, and the School of Design and Innovation.
As of June 2023, 18 colleges or schools have been added, 15 of which offer students a total of 36 specialties, covering five disciplines including engineering, science, liberal arts, management, and arts.

SZTU aims to establish itself as an international university, conducting extensive cooperation with universities of applied sciences in Germany, Switzerland, the U.S., and other countries and regions.
