The cultural, sports, and tourism sector, part of Pingshan’s “6+3” industrial clusters, has experienced significant growth in recent years. The district has a complete industrial chain for the drama, film, television, and cultural industries, encompassing creation, production, and exhibition.

Notable entities in the district include the theater construction company Z&F, theater operator Poly Theater, virtual studio Shenzhen Pingshan International Movie City, leading original drama production organization Longma Studio, and Pingshan Theater. The district has 11 performance venues.

In recent years, several TV dramas, films, and entertainment programs — such as “My Country, My Parents,” “Nice View,” and “Nothing But You,” featuring stars like Andy Lau, Shen Teng, and Jackson Yee — have been filmed in Pingshan.

The landscape and cityscape of Pingshan provide diverse settings that include ancient, modern, natural, cultural and technological scenes, suitable for various productions. Cultural features such as kylin dance, Hakka villages, and local folk customs blend seamlessly with high-tech cityscapes, including robotaxis and smart infrastructures, to meet diverse filming needs.

Popular filming locations include Pingshan District Central Park, Maluan Mountain, Jingui Town, Dawan Ancestral Residence, Longtian Ancestral Residence, Pingshan Culture Center, Shenzhen Pingshan Changshou Dramaville, and Pingshan International Tennis Center.

Looking ahead, Pingshan is exploring the establishment of an exchange base for film and television creation and rehearsals. This initiative aims to connect with enterprises and organizations while inviting renowned domestic and international producers, directors, and actors. The district plans to enhance facilities, including shooting locations, costume and prop rentals, and post-production services. Pingshan aspires to become a hub for film and television creation, producing more high-quality works, in addition to being an ideal venue for filming.
