Last summer, Pingshan District unveiled the Changshou Dramaville, a vibrant cultural hub transformed from an old Hakka village. It has attracted numerous cultural enthusiasts and tourists from around the world. Recently, the south zone of the new Pingshan Science, Technology and Culture Center, featuring distinctive architecture, also opened its doors. From ancient houses to futuristic venues, Pingshan’s architecture tells a captivating story of tradition, innovation, and global vision. Here are some of these remarkable sites:

The Pingshan Cultural House, which moved to the center’s south zone in late March, features distinctive wooden arched roofs and houses a 500-seat theater, rehearsal rooms, art rooms, and a rooftop stage. The north zone will host a science and technology museum and a bookstore upon completion.

Nanzhong School 南中学堂
Built in 1931, Nanzhong School is one of the first protected historical buildings in Shenzhen and an immovable cultural relic in Pingshan. Its white walls, dark blue tiles, cornices, and carved pillars display a unique blend of Hakka and Southeast Asian architectural styles. The school was originally founded to educate children from two villages, offering courses in Chinese, mathematics, geography, and physical education.
Renovated in 2018 by Pingshan District, the school now functions as a community library hosting cultural events and painting exhibitions. Viewed from above, the historic building set on a traffic circle resembles a tropical island in the urban sea.
